I am planning to go to London from Birmingham New Street by Virgin Trains, but need to know if we can take bikes on those trains. I have looked at the website, but cannot find out this information. Can anyone tell me if you can take bikes on these trains, and if so do you need to make a reservation for this?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I don't know about Virgin, but I regularly take my bike on suburban and express trains on Southern lines, e.g. to East Grinstead, Brighton, Horsham. There is even a special bay and signs on the doors for wheelchairs and bikes.

They may not allow them during rush hours.
According to this National Rail advice leaflet you can.
Go to page 2,and look at Virgin Rail (bottom right).
It appears to be a free service, although you must book in advance, there is an 0845 number to call there too.

Good Luck!
if you don't get very far with Virgin, have a look at this:-
