Earlier tis morning Gribble posted a question on the above (anagrammed) puzzle. This question has since disappeared. Before it went Quizmonkey posted a reply predicting the question's removal. Quizmonster wondered how Quizmonkey knew such a thing. And Bathtub posted in favour of discussion.

Does anyone (Quizmonkey?) know if AB editor is kowtowing to blandishments and allowing only only one "official" Leinster Crossword thread per week?

This is not the first time I've noticed the disappearance of a second thread,

I sincerely hope this is wrong. NO crossword puzzle should be banned from discussion and answer giving.
I have just sent a message to the Editor asking for a response to the e-mail I despatched about ten days ago - for which I got no reply at the time - that had said, in effect: "Have you decided what to do re L-crossword queries?" When...if?..I get a reply to the latest attempt, I'll pass it on.
It will be truly grotesque if the kowtowing has, indeed, happened!
I should perhaps have added above that the 'disappeared' question read in part something along the lines of "Will someone give me the answer to just one across clue?" I did just that.
I find the elitism and snobbery associated with this crossword appalling. I doubt if you'll get a reply back from the ED Quizmonster.
well, what can I say apart from 'pathetic' I might email the editor to ask for an explanation but then again is it worth the bother? why cant people just answer a question or just ignore it, its that simple,

anyway thanks again Rapparee and Quizmonster for your help have now been able to solve 8 of the across clues and apart from this minor irritation still enjoying it.

what is the Leinster Crossword . I've had a google and can only find the Irish Times. Is that the one?
Well, well! The following just arrived from AbEd...

"I don't think answers to the Listener should be posted on
the AnswerBank and I get the impression many people would tend to agree. However, having said that this would be an extremely difficult task to 'police' for want of a better word!
Let me know your thoughts and I will post in Q and P either later today or tomorrow with a final decision. I am still conversing with the guy who sent the original email and he feels it is best to avoid posting any answer on AB
prior to the submission deadline date...it will take a team effort to moderate this though!"

Looks like the kowtow is on! However, I am about to e-mail my "thoughts", as requested, one of which is certainly the fact that - in the 'Listener Guy' thread of a month ago, more of us spoke out against special Listener treatment than for it! I don't know where that leaves the "many people" referred to above.

All will finally be revealed later.
lol mazie. I think he means the LISTENER crossword.

Yep Quizmonster, only a handful were in favour of not posting answers, yet the ED chooses to pander to them?
If this crossword is blocked then so should all prize competitions and quizzes.

I wouldn't mind but when I had a go the prize was a book. I was expecting at least 20,000 judging by all the fuss.
LOL, thanks squarebear. I thought I was going daft. (no comments!)
"Extremely difficult to police"!!

Indeed!

Some people want this question handled a bit "silenter".

Others want to "re-enlist" in the body of people who say that anything published in a national newspaper must be open to free discussion.

What those who live in "Leinster" think, I don't know, but maybe they will tell us.

LOL

I couldn't agree more. Anything published in a national newspaper is in the public domain and open to discussion.
I too recall Quizmonkey predicting the imminent removal of the post. Possibly he could be so certain because, as I understand it, if three complaints are received under the 'report this question' , the posting is automatically withdrawn.

It wouldn't even need Quizmonkey and two of his cronies to take the action, it can be done from a single computer if you have multiple user names.
If these censors prevail I will post the full solution to these crosswords on my website. They will not censor me.

Bravo Tichfield.
Hi Tichfield

While we are awaiting the editor's decision could you please give me the link to your site.

Thanks.
Strewth ..has this reared it 's head again !
If the threads are missing then someone has taken it upon themselves to moniter Leinster threads and connive to report them .
I made my feelings clear before on this .Computers have an on and off button .Nobody forces anyone to look at it or answer anything . Free country last time I looked .
Leinster fans have their own message board on which they can mumble on .
If Editor panders to one elite mob then they may as well close this section altogether . Otherwise it's blatant discrimination.
They could be better employed sorting out the dross in other sections .
I notice one or two have wondered where I have been :)
Well ..totally disillusioned is where I have been .
Disillusioned with the petty arguments over unimportant things like crosswords which in my book are brain fodder and fun not a matter of national importance or on excuse for someone to speak to me on here just for answering someones Q as if I were a schoolgirl and accuse me of encouraging laziness.I come on here for a bit of R&R not a lecture .
Shaney xx
Welcome back shaney I was one of many who missed you.

On good form i'm pleased to see.

shaneystar2 , I agree with your every word,
I did contact them but you just get a standard reply saying about breaking Site Rules etc ( which I didn't ) , I might try phoning them,
oh well many thanks to all the helpful, sensible people and lets hope that commonsense prevails.

It's not unusual for the weekly Listener prize to be won by two people solving together. If collaboration between two people is officially sanctioned, what logic can there be in frowning upon collaboration between more than two, whether by the medium of this website or in any other way?
Two people collaborating on a puzzle in private is one thing. Posting answers on a web site for the whole world to see is quite another.

Yes it's trivial, but you can say that about anything. Until world hunger is eradicated and cancer is cured there's always going to be something weightier to talk about. It doesn't take away the fact that some people take the "all-correct" status fairly seriously and if people have just read answers (and code keys) off a website to get there, it's kind of cheapened. It's not a matter of whether you or I would ever do that, it's knowing the option is there for others.
