Paul Schofield would fit and make sense against the clue if, as you say, his name was spelt with an "h." This could possibly be an oversight by the cluesetter.

I put Paul Schofield, I thought it was a misspelling as Paul Scofield was in A Man for all Seasons - the answer to two other clues written by another answer Robert Bolt.
