10ac A constitutional course (3, 3, 4, 5) - - - / - n - / - - m - /- - a - n 16ac Minority (6) 21ac No; it might be for sale (7) 8d Down-under it's up-over (8,5) Any suggestions very welcome. I'm stuck! Again!
Thank you. I think cut and come again is very likely right.
The first letter of 10ac is also the second letter of 8d
8d now has: = c = = = e = = / = = = s =
16ac sstarts with the 8th letter of 8d which would be t if twenty is right
I have made some progress. 8d is 'southern cross' and 10ac is 'out and home again' as Wilmay suggested.
16ac is 'nonage' 21ac is 'refusal' an anagram which I should have seen before. I now have only 2 left.
20d The first sunflower (6) - l - t - -
24ac A useful utensil, but could a bird be taught to use it? (7,6) - e - t - - - / d - e - e - The last letter of 20d is the 6th letter of 24ac (1st word)
If any one has any ideas I shall be very grateful
Thank you again Swannbaker. I have to admit that I had never heard of Clytie until today but what a lovely story. I have just looked it up on the internet.
