Saw this last night, I know its been on before.
I felt sorry for the girl. I don't think she was as into those beauty pageants as her mum was making out. Her mum wanted it more than her daughter and it seemed to me the mum was trying to relive her life through her daughter.
she told her daughter to smile in the car or else she was grounded.
Poor child looked really miserable. Oh and when asked describe yourself in 3 words, 'blonde, pretty and dumb' she said.

Didn't see the programme, but I was on holiday in Orlando in Nov '03 and it was Thanksgiving weekend. Unbeknown to us, the hotel was hosting a beauty pageant for girls aged 6 to 16 (several age groups) and this was the national finals or something. All the girls wore their tiaras 'all the time', carried little about 10" cube clear plastic 'handbags' and all were heavily made up. All had a mother and most a grandma in tow (both with rosettes with their daughters picture on them pinned to thier coat)(no men in sight and only a few bored brothers) and all, except two, were extremely rude, precocious and barged in front of you to get in the lift full of their own importance! I have never seen such a load of sad individuals in my life.
