Good morning to you all, this is Sir Sarumite (the Unready) addressing you as LinksMaster for the very first time. It will be my pleasure to set the Links throughout the FIVE weeks of August.

Whilst I have been involved in this weekly diversion from the very outset (and hasn't it grow in popularity during that time), this is my first opportunity to actually set up the link words for you. I'm conscious that I am only in-situ by default, in that the top three entrants in July had all been previous champions, but I have been runner-up on several occasions hitherto. I only hope that my efforts live up to the high standards set in the past!!

Here are a few of my personal details, (without divulging any titillating or scurrilous facts), which may or may not assist you in cracking the links!!??

Three years ago I took early retirement from Passenger Transport Management to act as a family carer 24/7.
As may be obvious from my handle, I live in South Wiltshire � where we have a very tall cathedral!
One of my school masters was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature (but his genius did not rub off on me unfortunately)
My passion is sport, (unfortunately only as a spectator nowadays), especially Rugby Union, Athletics, Cricket and more recently Horse Racing.

According to normal practice, for the everyday running of MM, I will follow the usual rule on word length as introduced by crofter. Each of my pre-selected link words contains at least four letters and at most eight letters. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts!

Each of the selected link words may go in front or behind my challenge word! The competition will officially close on Sunday Evening at 7.00pm, when crofter will declare my pre-selected words and then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past. My first set of four words to have their links predicted should appear below at 9.00am.

Well I think sport might be a little too obvious...so I will hazard a guess at Books and Literature.
Unless Sarumite has gone for the obvious...and I am left at the starting post!!

I'm sure it was William Golding who taught Sarumite...so how about Lord of the Flies?...that would link in fishing!!!
