I think I've got them all today, but I'd be grateful if someone could confirm either why the following fit the clues, or where I might look to get the right answer. Many thanks.
10ac Old pupil left in charge of poems (4) - I have 'ODIC', but don't know why the 'd' is there.
21ac Come into contact with leg and mention it in passing (5,2) - I have 'TOUCH ON' but don't know what 'on' has got to do with a leg.
25ac Determining the order of most of the dancing in middle of the night (10) - I have 'SEQUENCING', and understand where the 'in(g)' comes from, but is the rest something to do with sequins for dancing or something?
1dn Fish entered highly explosive cover (4) - I have 'HIDE', but what does 'id' have to do with fish?
24dn Seaweed covering two thirds of the fungus (4) - I have 'AGAR', but have no idea what this has got to do with fungus.
Many thanks for any explanations / corrections. Ta muchly.
Old minus L for learner/pupil + ic for in charge
On is the leg side in cricket
sequenc(e dancing ) + In + G
HE = High Explosive round id ( a type of carp )
Agaric is a fungus. Two thirds of it is agar.
I've just worked out 'ODIC' - it's 'old' without the 'l' for 'learner', or pupil. Don't know why I didn't see it before. Help still welcome for the others, tho'. Ta.
