Crossword comps

Being fairly new to this site I see there's a lot of serious crossword buffs out there. What I want to know is do any of you actually submit your completed crosswords (I admit I'm too lazy) and more importantly do you ever win?

( Still have some Telegraph playing cards!! ) For me though the fun is pitting my wits against those of the compilers and learning something new. Winning is an added bonus.
I used to submit and had a small win about 10 years ago (25 book token). I continued to submit for about a year longer and then decided I was probably spending more on postage than I was ever likely to win so now only do the crosswords for fun. Mostly cryptic - only attempt GK puzzles if I'm really bored and have nothing else to do.

Nicely put novalis though I'm clearly more addicted than yourself as I send in solutions to a range of 'quality' cryptics weekly. Over the many years I've won prizes on almost all, some several times. I'll die happy and go to heaven if an Azed prize comes my way. I'll reach nirvana if I win the Listener(much more unlikely as I only submit 2-3 a year).

I won the Daily Record last week .500 lovely quid !
Had a small win on my Puzzle Monthly Book the week before and as everything comes in threes ,so they reckon, I am just waiting for another one, but seriously ,I have had lots of little wins over the years that I have been submitting crosswords and that's an awful lot of a lot of years .
I regularly send in several from newspapers, magazines and crossword books I subscribe to .It's all the luck of the draw .
I just like doing crosswords especially cryptics.I have been addicted since I was knee high to a grasshopper and if I win that's an added bonus .And it's good for the old grey matter anyway.Use it or lose it .

I once won 200 + almanac for the Sat GK Telegraph crossword, I was really pleased and also all the nice comments from A/B ers as I was fairly new to the site.
Never won a bean "big time" since, although I do get the odd tenner on the local rag crossword.
On reflection I must have spent more than my win on postage as I send off about 6 to 7 a week.
ever hopeful Dee
