DT 500 Prize Crossword 18 Across Reddish-brown colour
2 Answers
It took me three hours, but I finally cracked this one. The only one I can't pin down is 18 Across; Reddish-brown colour. I have -A-E-, which would suggest HAZEL, but surely that's yellow- or greenish-brown, not reddish-brown?

My own preference is for hazel: the Concise Oxford Dictionary says 'a rich reddish-brown colour'.
The Chambers Dictionary says 'light brown, like a hazelnut', so perhaps this means the wood is light brown and it is the hazelnut that is reddish-brown?
