I got the "n" from the clue "rapidly".For it I had a?a?? and found the word amain. Hope this makes sense.

If 'Amain' is correct, how about 'Stain' - or does the 'G' come from 'Tragic' ?

Yes. The "G" came from tragic. Think I might go with apace and gorge. Seem to be making heavy weather of this weeks one and wonder if the �10 prize is worth the 4 hours I have spent on it!!!!!!!!
