MM Links Solutions September 2008 [Week 1]

This first week in the reign of King Wickedtongue went remarkedly well ~ especially in view of the fact that we were unable to make email contact until it was too late to do anything. Nevertheless, the launch went smoothly with plenty of points for the early birds. Within one minute, the first four entrants detected all four links and the sacred abacus was in for a battering! Following a theme of Top of the League, I can now reveal the chosen links were:

SHERWOOD Forest
VILLAGE Green
Rovers RETURN
Club SANDWICH

Wickedtongue was celebrating an early (and short lived) run of successes of his local football team. As a supporter of the Toon Army personally, football is a taboo subject in the croft!

Knocking on the door first was again Christiana munching on a CLUB SANDWICH to claim her TWO POINTS. She was followed immediately followed by freebi 2 scampering across the VILLAGE GREEN heading towards SHERWOOD FOREST and qualifying for FOUR POINTS. Next came Strix, who bypassed the green and headed directly for SHERWOOD FOREST where he collected his Two Points. Registering the same time of 09.01 came fordward staggering out of the ROVERS RETURN clearly under the �affluence of incohol� and claimed TWO MORE PINTS!!!!

With all four links going at 09.01, any further hits before the clock reached 09.04 would be entitled to bonus points as well. And they came thick and fast! First was ulysses100 with Three Hits (SIX POINTS) and this superb attempt was matched by centrino just before the clock reached its mark (to score SIX POINTS). These two must surely share the title and become HOT SHOTS OF THE WEEK!

Others scored bonus points, such as Jools (Two Points) and cliffyg (Four Points). However, at 09.04 marked the entrance of ex-champion Grenmus with two hits, but scoring a mere Two Points (instead of Four) and this sad fate was shared by patchett who entered three hits at 09.06! Much later, the three pointers continued to be lodged ~ by Eiggam & Shazza. All in all, 5 ABers had claimed three hits out of four ~ Well done to you all!

Those also scoring (very respectable) Double Hits were x-ray, Elspeth & Magyar and another 11 entrants managed a single hit including newcomer deecee131 (Welcome!) and our very own seekeerz! Welcome also to twix123.

The League Table after this first week is:

SIX POINTS: centrino & ulysses100

THREE POINTS: Eiggam, patchett & Shazza
TWO POINTS: Christiana, Elspeth, fordward, Grenmus,,, Jools, Magyar, Strix & x-ray

Next week, there will still be everything to play for ~ when King Wickedtongue may well continue in his generous spirit to distribute points right, left and centre! Who knows ~ We may have to re-name him as King Kindtongue . If it means that there will be plenty more points being up for grabs, be there for your share of the booty!

Oh my ! It has been a while since I've been in the top scorers , and I see that I am in some good company. I hope that I can stay with wickedtongue's thought processes for the next few weeks. Thanks to him and again to crofter for his analysis.

Well, I squeaked in with a two-pointer but zilch with the rest.But congrats to centrino and ulysses100, and thanks to crofter for the monitoring of the scores.

My sympathies go to crofter who must be wondering who to abuse the most in the Ashley/Keegan fiasco. My best time, football-wise, at University was sitting in one of the Castle Leazes' Halls of Residence and watching the home games at St James for free.

AND, wickedtongue, I understand from sources unwilling to disclose the full truth (or their name) your email address is somewhat, shall we say, suggestive.......?

Shall we leave it at that - or will you tell us the truth?

Some month there should be a boobie prize just for the heck of it. If we find it so difficult to answer questions from across the 'pond' how difficult would it be to answer us?

Hi Dustybun, You are quite right. The master scoresheet has been amended!

The problem was that the analysis took more time than I thought and I completed it with only one minute to spare. As a consequence, the last few entries were added in under a massive panic.

You know that I wouldn't overlook your efforts on purpose. Not Dustybun!
