You've forgotten to give us the clues to work on . We aren't psychic!

I didn't say you were pschic I asked if anybody had the answers as there are a number of clues in them and I don't know where to start.

The answer to the cryptic from the blue lights is SOCKET

As for the other two ,can't help you ,...I never do these .They are beyond me I'm afraid .I'm useless at these sort of puzzles .
Same with that snakes and ladders and switchback thingy .I end up hurling the book across the room !

Hi shaneystar2, many thanks for your help, I have tried the cryptic a few times but have only ever got the answer once and that was by sheer luck. The answers to snakes and ladders is VIOLET, and switchback is EXTINCT, at least I am good at some of the puzzles, or I should say my wife is good at them.

Yes that's the issue I am on .Many thanks for those .Much appreciated . Cryptics don't faze me at all .They are my favourites but it's nice to know someone can work out those others because I can't !

Stanbesida-there is a section at the back of Puzzle Monthly called Puzzle Pointers, where subscribers can write in and tell us how they (or their wives) have some tips on how to tackle various types of quizzes. For Shaneystar & my benefit, please will you write a small article about Switchback, and Snakes & Letters, because I,ve never been able to understand them either.The instructions given to tackle them never change, especially switchback , and I'm never sure if all the squares should have letters in, as mine never fit!
