What are you opinions of the once controversial, United Colours of Benetton adverts? Were you shocked, and would you find them shocking now?

What are you opinions of the FCUK adverts and slogans? Do you find them shocking? Do you believe FCUK to be rude?

Do you believe these adverts to be sucessful and what did you think about the impact they have made?

The sole object of adverts is to raise brand awareness.

The mere fact that you have asked this question shows that the adverts were a complete success.

The End.

Please sir, I've finished.

pretends to need more paper, just to intimidate the other students
ps

FCUK is not a rude word.

It uses the same letters as a rude word.

If you mentally switch the letters around to make a rude word, it is your mind being rude, not French Connection UK.
I think that all advertising is designed to make the product thought and talked about, so in each case they were successful.

i thought the Beneton adverts were tasteless, but I can see thet are not aimed at me, or probably my generation.

The FCUK ads I do find offensive, and the slimy red-braced idiot who dreamed it up and smugged around saying it was 'people's minds if they thought it was rude ...' was simply insulting the general public's inteligence. He knew it would cause controversey, that's why he did it. i have no problem with his motive, but I do take issue with his smug holier-than-thou denial of his motive.

I find a lot of visual advertising offensive these days, but again, I am not the generation the advertisers are targeting, but that doesn;t mean I don't see their ads.
Hey, Andy, long time no post.

How are ya? x

(ps Sorry about the smug, holier than thou bit in my answer)

I remember the 'brand' very well and the shock/outrage when they were launched (particularly the newborn baby and the man with AIDs on his deathbed)

But in all honesty I can't say I have shopped at either in store in the last 16 years.

But I remember the brands and the name, and I remember most of the pictures in that link. I suppose it worked, but it didn't compel to buy,
Hi jayne,

I am fine thanks, and have been posting away regularly - perhaps we visit different sections?
