11 Answers
im confused .com ,ive got a 10mth old cream coloured golden retriever/german sheperd , called jack he's great some people say dont get him neutuered as it will change his temperment for the worse, others say get him done. if i let him off his lead in the park he runs off at the whiff of a female dog,and a lot of the dog owners ive come across dont like it hmm, if i get him done will it stop him chasing the female dogs, i dont think it will, as i also have an 8yr old spayed female golden labrador and he mounts her, should i get him done will it stop his antics

I'm definitely in favour of castration as I feel that it isn't very fair to the dog to keep him entire if you are not going to use him to breed with. It may make him calmer and help to control his sexual urges. It also sounds like he would benefit from dog training classes to teach him some obedience and as he is still quite young it would help with his socialization skills.
You can find out all about dog training classes on the internet, and you'd be surprised how many men are not in favour of castration!! Hope this helps!

Have him done .My old Shaney was a complete nightmare until we had him castrated .He would howl at the moon, refuse his food and be off after the slightest scent of a female and we would spend ages rounding him up .
My menfolk were against it ..well ..men would be ...but my answer was that they didn't have to cope with all this naughtiness .
Once he was done he calmed down . Still the same dear old chap but a lot easier to handle !

It will definitely stop him running off after bitches, although training will help you to teach him not to do this as well.
Neutering is the most responsible thing to do, as well as making your life a lot easier. It is a very simple operation and he will be back home and feeling a bit embarrassed before you know it.

Neutering is kindest thing for cats or dogs, unless of course you intend breeding from them,it makes them happier in themselves, calmer, and more of a joy to own,go into any vet's practice and you'll see all over the walls recommending owners to get their animals neutered or spayed, you'll be doing him the biggest kindness by having him having it done.
I have 3 male Shih Tzus and I didn't have the second one neutered because people told me it would change his personality.
When I got the third one he constantly sprayed everything in sight and caused me a lot of problems so I had him neutered.
What a relief. The spraying stopped and his personality didn't change a drop. In fact he seemed happier in himself.
Hope that helps.
