Hi doogied - I suppose this is one of those quizzes where the number of letters isn't given?

5 Alloa (doesn't really work...) - Al(l)ow + Ar(gon) - are "sound-alikes" permitted?

16 Brechin (?) - Breech can mean 'buttocks' (behind), lose an 'E' + in = Ni(ckel) backward
Apologies shawnee, I didn't refresh first! :-)
11 Stir-ling (?)

:-)) @ shawnee

I'm off to bed soon - trouble is, I don't know if I'll be able to lie down, as I've managed to put my back out! :-(

More than anything else I can think of right now!! :-)))

I agree with you & did ask about "sound-alikes" - I just didn't like the "look" of 'Alowar' as that can't be what the quiz requires as an answer & there are better clues available to arrive at 'Alloa' from 'Allow'...

...Of course, we don't yet know if it's correct!
Sorry, I went to make tea in the middle of typing & did it again!

Apologies to doogied for hijacking your thread... :-)

I'm off now, but thanks for the laughs & the chat! (Oh, and the massage!) :-))

See you next time...

Hi shawnee and Lie-in King, it was good to switch on my computer this morning and read something that made me smile !!
Sorry I forgot to say there's no clue to the number of letters in the answer.
I did think of Alloa, but not very happy with it, there is another sound-alike but the clue begins with "Sounds like"
I've put Stirling as the answer to the clue "Commotion with fish" so I'm wondering if "Mixed fish" is an anagram of a fish, so I'll think of that today.
Hope you've managed to struggle out of bed,Lie-in King.
