MM Links October [Week 4]
56 Answers
Good morning everyone and welcome to the fourth and final week of pitting your wits against King Ulysses the Valiant. For a while there, I thought that there were going to be so few points scored in the month, but it seems that you may be getting the measure of me.
I am still off-line as regards broadband I know that others in the past have had the same problems. You don't realise how often you use something until it isn't available. Furthermore, I'm not around first thing this morning (I'm long gone on a call of Nature!) so the redoubtable crofter will do the honours again for me and launch the link words at 9.00 am.

In fact, this is the reason that I am not at my PC first thing this morning, since I am leading my last Botany Walk of the season up on the North Norfolk coast. This means that Ill have to leave my home in South Suffolk by 7.30am at the latest to enable me to have enough time to get up there. The Society has what they call a Last Day Hunt, in which we try to find as many plants in flower as is possible.
As far as the house moving is concerned, the decorating is coming along fine. I have managed to remove the shocking pink from all four walls of the living room. All of the DIY tools have been moved out and the place is starting to look warm and inviting. Several overgrown trees in the garden need to come down and I am now getting quotes for their removal.

Because of my scientific background, my career path was determined quite early on. I decided to go up to University to study Dentistry! I qualified in the late 70s and my first jobs were working in hospitals up to Senior House Officer level and getting involved in all sorts of surgery. I then went into general practice and eventually had my own Dental Practice. As time went by, more and more regulations, Health and Safety rules and administration got in the way (as it seems to do in most professions these days) and I decided to get out.
I am now officially retired from Dentistry, but my hobbies and interests take up all of my time, and I seem to be busier now than when I was working. A few years ago, I was fortunate enough to spend some time in the African Bush doing a game warden course (which I loved enormously). There is now an expanded one-year course on Game Wardenship, which I would love to do the only thing that is holding me back at the moment is my dog, but when he goes I hope that I will have the time, energy and the money, to return to Africa.

Needless to say, for the everyday running of MM, I will follow the same rule as introduced by crofter on word length. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts!
Each of my selected words may go in front of or after my challenge word. The competition will officially close at 7.00pm on Sunday evening when crofter will declare my selected words, then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past .
My fourth and final set of four words to have their links predicted will appear below at 9.00am. There are many subjects covered in my preamble above, so I wonder if Pauline will be able to divine this weeks theme.
Good luck to you all.
