Having posted an earlier answer, saying it was "under par", I feel obliged to retyract that answer and state that if 9 across is Zanzibar and 13 across is "vandals", then the obvious answer to 2 down is "above par". Does anyone agree with me, please.
Under par would be the normal turn of phrase for a golfer below par, bur as you point out apropos the other answers then above is all it can be. I have heard the term above par being used by the more pretentious commentators.
Clearly the compiler simply does not understand golf
terminology. The answer should be sub par under par or below par...but only above par fits with the other answers!
