Yes, mes amis, it is Week 3 of the dreaded Sir Strix the Monkey Grinder and there are still a further two more for you to endure. Brickbats have been raining on my head, a concrete overcoat has been recommended and that I should be put in irons and shoved into a wooden box! So it seems that Sir Strix the Monkey Grinder has been un-amusing quite a lot of you. One email I received from a particularly sainted contributor to this website even suggested that the Shrubbery should "tar and feather" me. I am surprised that that contributor did not go even further and suggest that I should, in addition, be keelhauled. This brings me neatly to Week 3.

Let us, now, press the fast forward button a bit on the Strix biog. I did eventually qualify and become a self-employed architect. After a few years working in London, I moved to the south coast to work with some friends. As a self-employed architect, it means that I need to travel to wherever I am commissioned to design a building. Sometimes, if I am lucky, it is abroad. Therefore the mode of transport is occasionally very entertaining. In England it is, usually, by car. There was once a farm in France that needed altering, and that needed travel by car and ferry. When commissioned to work on a couple of buildings on an island off the west coast of Scotland, I needed a car, a ferry and then a train on the way home. There was a pub/restaurant in Ireland and that required travel by plane and car. However, when asked to work on a chapel in South America how was I to get there?

You might have gathered from the last weeks offering that I went to two boarding schools -- both were near the south coast. My first had four lakes in its landscaped grounds and two rivers nearby. My second had a river flowing through its grounds and was not so many miles from the largest natural harbour in England. Yes, Pauline and the rest of you, this week will be based on water -- but youve had enough hints for now.
Forms of transport ...surelt too obvious!!
I would like it to be forms of PUNISHMENT!!! :-))
Well...Poole Harbour is what you must be talking about....a good ducking in it should do!!! :-))
Perhaps it's types of boat and he went to South America by kayak!

Some years ago, I was sitting in the small building, which I shared with two others, whilst I was designing a museum. A mutual friend, who belonged to a White Ensign club as well as a Blue Ensign club, wanted his friend, a South American, who already belonged to the White Ensign club to be seconded for membership of the blue Ensign club. One of my colleagues belonged to that Blue Ensign club. That was the reason for their visit to our offices. (Still with me? Pay attention at the back there).
This procedure proved tedious and the South American became bored. He wandered into where I was drawing and we got talking and he discovered that I had done a fair amount of sailing. He said he needed a chapel designed for him and his family. He was not happy with his architect back home and asked if I would like to design the chapel for him and if so I would need, of course, to see the site. Plus, if I was interested, his yacht was in England and would I like to help sail it to the West Indies and then fly on from there. I immediately, of course, said I would first have to consult my diary ...!

Needless to say, for the every day running of MM, I will follow the same rule as introduced by crofter on word length. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts! Each of my selected words may go in front of or after my challenge word. The competition will officially close at 7.00pm on Sunday evening when crofter will declare my selected words, then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past . My third set of four words to have their links predicted will appear below at 9.00am. Good luck to you all.
What about farms??? You mentioned a farm in France??
