I'm stuck on the final 5 questions and would be grateful for any help.
1. Name the stick used to rest the brush when painting.
2. Which British Prime Minister said, 'I owe everything to my mother'?
3. Name the TV series also known as a breakfast favourite.
4. When were one way streets first introduced in London?
5. In 1997 The Simpsons became the longest running cartoon series but who did they replace?
Many thanks.

The title of the emailI received was Local Quiz., nothing more, nothing less. There was no mention of what charity this quiz was trying to raise money for, when the closing date was due, or any other indication other than a friend kindly sent this to me in email form as something for me to do, as a bit of fun.
I therefore find it very unfortunate that you appear to be aiming your comments to flopsymopsy, who, in her thread, was only trying to help, as indeed, do most people on this site. I am also very surprised at the accusation directed at flopsymopsy regarding manners. I found your first response directed to me, laked manners. My request was courteous, I was courteous in thanking people for the trouble they took to help. Why accuse me of not putting the name of the quiz, was I too embarrassed to do so? I repeat, I did not know the name of the quiz other than LOCAL QUIZ which is what I put. You accuse me of ruining the quiz for everyone else. Yesterday, I received an email which informed me that someone in Ontario had received this quiz under the title Local Quiz. Do your unecessary comments now apply world wide?
I am extremely sorry that flopsymopsy been affected by your comments, and is now not wishing to help people as a result. She, like almost everyone else who uses this site, was only trying to be of assistance in a very gracious manner. Every weekend people seek help here to complete the Telegraph crossword, they may, or may not send their entry in, but there is a prize. Are they wrong to ask for help too? If it bothers you so much, why log on to the site in the first place?
In conclusion, many thanks once again to flopsymopsy and Lucienne for their help.

Bluebell - the whole essence of these comments is because people are too lazy to look for answers themselves - unfortunately, something that sites such as this only go to encourage (see the many threads from or about jack1976 recently and other comments in this thread). Many of these quizzes are for charity, so by purchasing the quiz, people have already supported the charity. There is, therefore, no reason to need to use other people's answers - if people can't find an answer themselves, where is the harm in having a guess or leaving a blank space? Nothing can be learned from getting someone else to answer a question. People use google, etc. and I see no problem with that, because they are doing the looking themselves, but just posting a question on here is not the same (and it puts the answer in the public domain for all the lazy people).
Unfortunately, the "local quiz" label is used by so many when they are trying not to be seen to be asking a question about a specific quiz - I accept that was not the case in this situation (so apologies for that). I'm sure you can appreciate the frustration this kind of thing causes.
I regularly enter Great Brain Quiz, but this is blighted by dwindling numbers simply because answers are freely given away on here and other sites, thereby rendering the quiz setters work somewhat of a waste of time (despite his wishes that entrants do not ask on here). The AB editor has also refused to offer any help in this vain as well. Yes, I know that goes against the principle of the site, but we do all need to work in harmony from time to time.

Thank you for your last response boysinblue, and for your detailed explanations. Like flopsymopsy, I am a relative newcomer to the site, and was unaware of the resentments felt by some when using this site and the reasons why. I appreciate it must be difficult to differentiate between those genuinely seeking help, and those who opt for the easy way out, but by the very nature of the site, it is open to all comers who request assistance. It's somewhat harsh to give people a rollicking when all they did was to seek help in all innocence, and could put them off in the future.
I am most envious of the fact that you enter the Brain of Britain quiz, I find my old grey matter is seriously tested at the local pub quiz, where a tin of Quality Street is the prize, there is much 'Helping' by teams alongside, which naturally means the chocs are shared with everyone taking part! support many charities, but you may rest assured that I do not enter organized quizzes unless I stand a chance of winning the Big Purple One in the tin!
Another plea to flopsymopsy though, please don't give up helping. I for one, appreciated your kindness.
