Whitaker's Almanack 2009 quiz
30 Answers
I have not found any requests as yet for help with the 2009 Whitaker's Almanack quiz, so any ideas on the following please:
Q4 What institution was voted out after 239 years (could be the Nepalese monarchy, but no reference to it on the Nepal section pages 942-4)

 Q7 If men = 40.7, women = ?

Q8 What was declared open in 2007 for the first time in 29 years

Q10 What links the positions of chairman of the British Film Institute, president of Indonesia and the editor of "Which"

Q11 What was unusual about "The Sun" in 2007-8

Q14 What increased in price by 37 between July 2007 and July 2008

 Q17 Complete the sequence: 1,752, 2,063, 2,118
Q15 quotes 6 July, but page 413 gives 5 July 1948 as the founding date of the NHS. Is this a misprint?

Thanks for Q 8 page 276, I had to read the page twice to find the answer. However, I had another answer, but I think yours is more correct. ( I had "Northwest Passage" page 1091 .September 15th., but it does state 30 years, whereas Wikipedia / Northwest Passage / Effects of climate change states "On September 14th 2007, opened up the passage for the first time since records began in 1978" this is 29 years! and it does NOT say it was DECLARED open ( as in the question) Good Luck

Hi Bethesda. Re Q8 Bath Spa = 28years, Northwest Passage = 30 years (although Wikipedia states 29)
Suppose we must try harder. Still not found Q17 answer.
Hi 08012006 Thanks for your input. Think we have all helped each other. Even so, at the end of the day, if neither of us, or any other user of AB, are not meant to win, we wont!, but we have still learnt from this quiz. Good Luck to All.
