I refuse as a point of principle to have my central heating on so put a fleece on when I venture out the living room. Its officially baltic where i stay in Scotland.
Does anyone else see the point in not heating a house for the sake of one person?
I had a letter to say that their prices had risen something like 293% in the last year and dont i know it.
What about all the old biddies -man i feel for them -I even sleep on the sofa at times as I know my bedroom is going to be freezing.
I tend to stay in one room in the day with the fire on and the rest of the house with no heating due to the cost of it . But it's a very damp house and it's been brought to my attention that I should put the central heating on low to take the chill off .
I have an electric heater in each of the bedrooms , handy to warm the room up before getting to bed . My bathroom is done out as for disability and it's a wet room with a very efficient wall blow heater that heats it up very quickly thankfully .
hey bath -she's still in hosp -will talk to you soon xx
H has just said the same thing and i have just gone ound and turned the radiators off which arent needed-have to say they were all mostly turned off.
Stoke -I think i would have the halogen heaters -reminds me of when i first married 29yrs ago and we had a wee flat and we woke every morning (in the winter of course) to the water solid ice in the basin -we survived wih paraffin heaters-happy days really.
BM -thats shocking given your health -surely something can be done about that.I am vexxed for you hun-really xxx
I absolutely cant stand this cold anymore and have relented but I am concerned for BM -please see if there is something which can be done for you-surely there must be something given the degree of cold which is sweeping the country -heres a big hug to help keep you warm in the meantime (((xx))))
Yes dris hun , my upstairs is ok , it's downstairs that's damp and cold . I have noticed my chest has got worse since the colder wether and I'm sure it's due to the damp walls and floors . The housing association came to look over a year ago but still haven't done the work needed .
damp can affect your health..stay warm, my mum used to keep a flask of tea with her so she didnt need to move, I thought that was worse, but she wouldnt listen
Yeah well im lucky to have my health and just a cold house -daresay like everyones elses.
I still dont feel inclined to go through to a cold bedroom at the moment-so will try to ontain my heat in one room.
Damp is a seriously different busines -my daughter who is only 19 has had a prob with upstairs tenant and a burst pipe for 5 months -she owns her flat but Environmental Health have been involved and have just in the past 2 weeks invoked something which enforced the landlord to take action -however my daughter now has pleurisy and I blame that on the damp conditions she is living in -insurance wouldnt touch the claim until it was quite rightly dealt with.
Poor wee soul -cant even go to see her as i have something as well and she has to get fit to work.Im just letting her sleep it off with the antis and the painkillers..
Thank you -she is very poorly ATM but has a massive anti to take just twice a day-hopefully its been caught in time.
I feel wretched for not going through-of course I would if she took a really bad turn-but I have to keep away as I have to work in order for me to subsidise her -its tricky so i dont want to put too much pressure on her.She is phoning tho.
Thanks for your kind words justmetoo -its a very difficult time x
