Stefan Kiszco was convicted for her 1976 murder, but cleared after spending 16 years in prison. Forensic evidence which had not been disclosed to the defence proved he couldn't have been the murderer.
He died just 18months after release, on the anniversay of his arrest. This is perhapsthe most tragic miscarriage of justice in British history, and one of the very few for which it can confidently be said that the cleared man was definately innocent.
The real murderer has never been identified, though the police have re-openned the case. The officer who lead the original investigation was charged in relation to his conduct, but eventually never stood trial.
