It is an irrational fear. I dare say there will be a name for it.

I've never heard of anyone having this particular phobia and would suggest you seek counseling.
Question Author
great, counseling lol. what will they try and do? make me listen to it? becuase i did try and bring myself at one point to over come it. i mean right now i think about it while i'm typing and i'm feeling very uncomfortable.
Very unusual. It is not as though you lived through it.

I must admit it is not a pleasant sound, full of dread and foreboding. Not one of my favourite sounds.
They may want you to listen to it as part of your therapy, yes.

Seriously, if you even think about it and become agitated, do you think that's normal. What do you believe this sound will do to you? How can it hurt you?
i doubt its common.

perhaps a past life? or maybe you saw a sad or upsetting film as a child and it makes you think back.

i know that the soudn will do nothing to me but its the sound of it non-the-less. my A-level drama class all know about this, one of their performances they wanted to use it which meant i couldnt watch their play and when ever they rehearsed i just couldnt stay in the room...
could be a past life but its something about the whole thing i just can't take it.
Seek help before you start getting irrational fears about other sounds. This absolutely isn't normal.
Question Author
right. ok i'll look something up of where i could go. thank you all for your help.
When I was younger, they used to use this sound at a nearby factory to denote that lunchbreak was over. It's not a very nice sound I must admit, in fact it's quite scary, so I do feel for you lumination.
I don't think if you had counceling that they would make you listen to this noise. But I do think you need to talk to someone about your fears. The best place to start would be a visit to your GP. He will have seen this sort of problem before, and would offer you advice on counceling.
Hope you get it sorted soon as you sound very upset by it all.
:-)

GP sounds a better thing to do first, partly becuase i just looked up how much it would be to get counciling and its about 40 per appointment around this area. GP...nice and cheap i'll ask when i get my turning 18 injection :s. thank you daniela31.
How often do you hear the siren that it would be interfering with everyday life?
Hello lumination , as you're very young I would hope for you that this is something you'll soon grow out of . Have a word with your gp about it. All the best . x
Yes as Lakitu says , it's not something I've heard above perhaps twice in my life !
It's not the hearing of the noise that is affecting his life lakitu, I think it's the fact that he might. hear the noise.
It's the fear of it happening, that is bothering him I think.

in some films they use it, and i do film stsudies as a subject, its kinder a problem. it just pops up when you least expect it, seriously its weird. i went to go see the latest Indiana Jones film only to find they use it for a good 30 seconds, i had to leave the cinema pretty damn quickly. and then went to see The House Bunny, and its in that! i eman really, The House Bunny uses the siren. And on the advert for that Pussycat Doll album they use it in that, unexpected but it sucks.
Oh right, he started his Q with everytime he hears it, other than the odd movie, I can't think where else anyone would hear it. Sorry.
Question Author
its okay, but its often to hear it. btw i'm a girl lol
Sorry. I asumed you were male.
I hope you see someone soon about this fear though.
Good luck.
:-)
Ah, I can see why film studies would make it more of a problem for you.

I think you should see your doc too then, or go on Maury, he seems to sort our the most bizarre phobia I've ever seen :o)

Good luck and sorry for thinking you were a boy xx
