11A San - for sanatorium - means hospital and a ham actor is one who overdoes it.
32D Setter...seer = prophet and TT (teetotal) = Rechabite...ie the prophet encases the teetotaller. I'm assuming that Ascot is the name of one of the Spectator's crossword-setters.
