This is done to keep the myth going so that any incident in the vicinity allegedly falls into the triangle. There have been more mysterious accidents and incidents in the English Channel, but we don't connect them to any kind of supernatural power.

The authorities keep sending people to get the bodies, but all they hear from the rescue planes are, "Ok, we're over the Bermuda Triangle....AHHHHHH!!!!! WE'RE GOING DOWN FOR NO DETERMINATE REASON!!! AHHHH!!". And then static. Then the authorities send people to save those people. Ah, the Circle Of Life.
