Watched an absolutely brilliant televised concert from the 60s,with Judy Garland and featuring Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin,on BBC4 tonight...It's being repeated in about an hour and a half's time at 1.55...Its not on iplayer,so,you should tape it ;-)...She was such an original talent with such emotional ability. If you want to see a true star, have a look;-)

One of the advantages of being very aged is that I got to see lots of "Legends" when I was younger.
I saw Judy AND Liza at the Palladium, years ago now.
It was a wonderful and unforgetable night.
BTW did you realise that Judy was only she was only 4ft 11 and a half inches tall.
In fact when she was matron of honour at Piaf's(last) marriage she said it was nice to be taller than the bride for a change!LOL(Piaf was 2" shorter)
She was just 47 when she died.
Much of the film "I Could go ON Singing" 1963,with Dirk Bogarde was ad libbed, and relfected her own life a lot.
Her husband Vincente Minelli was Bi Sexual, she divorced him and married producer Sid Luft(by whom she had 2 children,Joey and Lorna).
Poor Liza seems to have followed in Moms footsteps, all her Husbands have been either BiSexual or Gay.

aog, I believe the usual thing today is to record things on the hard drive in a Sky player. I have just been giving my collection of rare silent movies to charity shops because I no longer have a VHS player to play them on. They're not being manufactured any more so if yours breaks down, you've had it.
Judy's talent is on a par with the other icons mentioned but I prefer the Orleans jazz of the period.
