what i don't, can't and will never understand is how you can go to a pub and get wasted whilst knowing you are responsible for a child, it just doesn't make sense to me. and gets me very angry when i'm chasing after a kid and the parents don't give a f**k where they are when the potential for them to be seriously hurt is huge.
the sad thing is these parents wil more than likely get their child back and will celebrate by going to the pub!

When I worked in a pub many years ago I used to refuse to serve parents who appeared drunk and had their kids with them. I was verbally abused and physically attacked(once) because of this :(
Many people don't know that it is actually against the law for bar staff to continue to serve someone who is or appears to be drunk.

daffy 654....yes I did know that, but I wouldn't like to remonstate with drunks in a pub.
I would not go to a damsel in distress.
If I was a social worker, I would not go into a high rise, past gang of yobs, in the lift (full of graffiti) onto the 20th floor and check on whether or not a child was being abused.
I would not go out after 10p.m at night.

I tend to want to right the wrongs I see being done,I have put myself in danger too many times now though so try to hold back....i'm not in the best of health these days so I have to try and actually think before acting.lol
Also i'm hardly a big bruiser at 5'4" and not even 8st.
It is awful that we are at risk from the things you mention sqad :( but we most certainly are and I see it getting worse daily!!!

I know it doesn't say why the girls were alone but I think we can take it she wasn't interested in their welfare as there wasn't even a christmas tree.
Can't think whats worse. Leaving them at home alone with nothing or doing what the first couple did.
Not much between them really.

'round these parts chavs are referred to as pikeys - in fact, the scum underclass were known as pikeys here long before the word chav achieved national familiarity.
So, under normal circumstances I would refer to bottom feeders like this as 'pikeys', but added 'chav' so people wouldn't get confused and think I was referring to Irish gypos.
