I never knew there were charity quizzes by post and would be interested in doing one.

Where can I buy one from? What's the rules - how does it work?

Thanks very much, Taz . :)
You're right there tazmac !!!
I've sent off for a few advertised on here. Wait until you see one advertised and send off your cheque and a SAE. The quiz sheet will have the closing date etc on.

I make a point of only buying quiz sheets where it states the cheque is payable to the particular charity. Call me suspicious but I won't buy them if the cheque has to be made payable to an individual.

Don't you dare win one! You've had your M&S vouchers so don't be greedy!

Suspicious you may be (and sometimes I dont blame you) but I run quizzes on behalf of the Manchester & Cheshire dogs home and have the cheques etc made payable to me to make life easier for both the dogs home and the quizzer

I still have a number of cheques out standing for quizzes I ordered months ago and it drives me nuts
Also its easier for the dogs home not to have loads of 1 cheques as each one requires an individual reciept
I delivered the money (cash) from my last quiz there this week and a singular 1 reciept for a lone cheque

If you want to enter the Manchester quiz please feel free to send a cheque payable to the Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home to me and I will still send them out

Cheers

tazmac, thanks for that.
Hi Mrs Overall

I compile quizzes on behalf of the Cinnamon Trust and ask for cheques made payable to me as this means I have the hassle of banking etc. Also, the charity may incur bank charges on lots of 1 cheques which would completely defeat the object. However, some of my regular quizzers send cheques made out to the charity and I just pass these on. Even more trusting are those that send me cash.

When I first started sending for quizzes I too thought about the instance of fraud, but, having been compiling quizzes for 18 months or so, believe me, there are lots more easy and profitable ways to make money. The number of hours that I spend in compiling, printing (and the cost of that), sending out, marking and sending out answers, providing envelopes for those who send me the smallest SAE possible for the return of 4/5 sheets A4 paper, would mean that I would be working for pennies an hour.

Sorry Ethel, I've highjacked your thread. I think that most compilers on here are honest, and most of the quizzes are from regular compilers. I would say go for it with confidence and enjoy a little bit of harmless fun and contribute to a worthwhile cause. (oh and watch out for my advert in a few days time as I am just putting the finishing touches to my latest quiz)

best wishes

Julie
