When should I worry about my Deja Vu?
17 Answers
I have had deja vu since I was a little girl. I've read all the answers you have all offered and spent hours looking information up. The problem is that I still don't understand why it happend to me. I get it on a daily basis and sometimes a few times a day now. It comes in levels of intensity, some days it's your garden variety errie feeling of having been there done that. But more and more lately it has been a full intensity feeling well before the event where I can recall what is going to happen well before it does or I feel simply as an outside observer as it is occuring knowing what will happen seconds before it does. I also have dreams weeks prior to events happening, they are exactly the same. I am frightened by the intensity of these phenomena's. Am I going crazy? Is there someone or somewhere I can get information about this? Thanks to anyone who can help.

A friend of mine has a cousin who had incredible feelings of Deja Vu daily, and in particular when they answered the phone (?). It bothered her so much she saw her Dr. After various tests it was discovered that she had a very mild form of epilepsy - the Deja Vu was simply an electrical current going a bit mad for a second.
Please please don't be scared by this answer, I just think it is well worth you getting it checked out. Take care.
Starsia,
That actually seems like more than deja vu to me - it seems like you're psychic, if you are dreaming or knowing things before they happen. I'm sure there are others who have that ability who can help you deal with it - either shut it out or become more comfortable with it - but I wouldn't know where to direct you.
Again, I don't want you to worry, but Hebejebe is correct. You should see your doctor. I have investigated this recently because my mother has shown symptoms of this and the doctor has said it can be a form of mild epilepsy.
I am sure there are all sorts of things which are a mild form of epilepsy. My son's type of visual disturbance syndrome (dyslexia) has been put down to electrical currents going haywire occasionally.
You are not going crazy in any way. Go and see your GP asap. He will put your mind at rest.
I don't think it is knowing things before they happen- it is just the FEELING that they have already thought it!! Electrical impulses speed along in your brain, and occasionally they trip up- this is called jumping the synapse. The electrical impulse literally jumps, missing out a bit of brain! This results in the feeling that you have experienced before what is currently happening. But it is just an electrical glitch.
no I don't want to beleive i am psychic it has honestly been scaring me. i have also experienced dizziness, headaches, nausea, sleep problems, ear aches, nose bleeds (and I've never had them before) and trouble with articulating the things i am thinking to the point that i know exactly what i am thinking but I can not make myself say the words. I don't know if any of these things are even related to the deja vu.
Starsia, Go to your Doctor as soon as possible and get this sorted out. If it is something physical then he can help you. If he gives you the all clear then you can stop worrying. Worrying and anxiety can cause some of the symptoms you describe.............. Take a friend or a family member with you to give you some support.
I had a spell where I was getting deja vu with more intensity than I've had before - just like you describe as an observer as it's occurring, knowing what will happen seconds before it does. At the time I was sleep deprived or at least I wasn't getting into a deep sleep. After that improved, the intense deja vus stopped. Don't know if it's related but it's what I put it down to!
I would say again though, Starsia, that a lot of your symptoms could be induced through panicking about your Deja Vu. Don't read any more on the internet!!! It is not helping you.
You will start to relate to all the symptoms you find. When I get anxious I get a lot of your symptoms (but not nosebleeds and earache). Country boy's answer is quite feasible.
Just go to the doctors asap. Your nosebleeds and earache might be entirely unrelated, but you need to get checked out.
Let us know how you get on and try to stop worrying. xxxx
Here's a possible answer. I once read a book that suggested that people dream of the future as well as the past. The problem is that when you wake up you immediately forget the dream you were having unless you make an effort to remember (and maybe write down a description). Deja vu may be remembering part of a previous nights dream being triggered by some event.
I get the deja vu dreams as well Starsia and I'll know they were a dream because I might even have talked about them in advance. I think it's funny because I can often remember exactly the way a conversation's going to go and I deliberately say something completely different just to change the course of things and prove I'm in control! Sorry folks, I've always been this way and I'm not going to the doctor over a few dreams.
My answer may sound a bit weird but.... Read a book on theoretical physics, reference time and space. So now one has to ask, is it not possible that we are sometimes aware of time and space in a way that can't be explained...Yet? I think someday, in the future deja vu will be scientifically and medically explained. Maybe it is just jumping, electrical currents in our brain but maybe while they are in the middle of the jump they have a chance to pick up on added information that is not seen with our three dementional vision. Just a thought.
