Hammond Harwood T.V. Quiz

Is anyone else surprised at how little money was raised for Childline from this quiz ? It was said that they had just over 500 entries and raised �512. Thanks were given for extra donations etc. but that only gives an extra �12 on top of the �1 entry fee. ( I sent an extra �2 and Im sure I wasnt the only one). Also we have not been given a list of prize winners.
Am I worrying unnecessarily ????? P

Depends on what the prizes are I suppose as they will need to cover the cost of those. I also questioned about the winners and it appears they dont publish them. its odd but
then i've had one or two like this recently. Also you have to take into account the donation was optional, not everyone would donate. May sound suprising but at recent charity event we served tea coffee fresh baked cakes, biscuits etc and had a bucket for donations rather than charge. We found the ones that took most didnt donate in fact one lady put 12 cartons of squash in her bag and put 1p in the bucket. Alot didnt even bother to do that.

You have to remember that really it started as a local quiz that you picked up from the estate agent on passing
A couple of years ago when I was quizless I was searching google and found it and the last two years advertised it on here
I am presuming that the local people still just go in and pick one up
Lets hope we can encourage more to do it next year
As for the prizes I think we'd be wrong to do it for that cos if you look most of them are local to the area so I see it as a great quiz that passes some time and am happy to send in my donation

Just realised i didnt word my comment very well, what I should have said was the cost of the prizes has to be taken into account as well as they come out the sales so depending on what they were would need to be taken into account on the total amount left.
I know what I mean anyhow LOL

When I saw the proceeds from this quiz I was very disappointed for Hammon Harwood.They work very hard to arrange this quiz..I sent quite a bit more than �1,so I feel there was quite a number of people who sent nothing.I think this is the reason quiz setters do not like copies sent in,as I feel there will always be the few who abuse the system.I have had my moan now,so I will put it to bed.

They are more than happy with the �500. I emailed him to ask if I could list it on the new quiz site and he was really pleased but still as far as they see it - it is a local quiz so they are not going to object to the locals popping in and picking one up for free and I believe the prizes are donated by local firms
�500 is better than nothing so we just need to plug it and do our bit
