excessive ?
 8,000 per annnum
Went on a government website, so sure of this information.

Warmest wishes, Bea :-)

www.parliament.uk
It was 5,750 in June 1975.
The Reports were not always implemented in full. The most obvious example of this came in
1975, when the TSRB recommended an increase in MPs' basic pay from 4,500 to 8,000 a
year, and the Government was able to agree to no more than 5,750. Similarly, the 1979
increase, though granted in full, was staged over three years.

Apologies, to pansyaman, scanned the article too quickly. It was the same one as posted by aquagility- same link- yet as you can see- copied and pasted above- they did not get the 8000 that they wanted.

Delighted that Obama is the new president- have watched his speech + read much in the broadsheets- fantastic- he will be brilliant for the world. Just hope the UK will one day have a leader as good as Barrack, too :-) Hugs, Bea :-)
