Good morning all, I'm ready and waiting to flex my brain [what there is of it ] and do all the necessary sums and come up the answers for this weekend's round of the contest.

I sincerely hope I'll be in the same situation this time next Monday as we have been promised/threatened a week in excess of 35d every day, starting with 3 days over 40, as of tomorrow. No Comment !!!

In addition, the new addition to the seekeerz household has decided she can take on both the boys, so there is a continuous running battle complete with growls and squeals going from one end of the house to the other - good idea not to stand in their way - they're not even knee high, but they'd flatten you and not think twice !!! The joy of dogs !!!

Well, that's enough to be going on with until the matches are posted, I shall go and ignore a pile of ironing !!! S

I think the link words are

STICK
COURT
BRASS
DAWN

Giving us

Chop - STICK
Crown - COURT
BRASS - Nickel
DAWN - Raid

Meaning I've scored a big fat ZERO. :-((

That's enough cheek out of you Strix !!! Just because you managed 3 points, there's no need to get big-headed !!!
I so seldom get any points that I have to make the most of it whilst it lasts!

Nemesis, I am sure, is close on the heels of hubris!

I thought broken legs did that - maybe I've mixed up somewhere.
Steff - A belated HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY to you. I hope you've had a good one.
No need to tax your brain for me either, and here was me being quite chuffed with my months total so far. You know what they say 'Pride goes .......... etc.
Oh well just have to think harder next week.
Cheers

Thanks, Jools - lots of celebrating going on all over the country, there may be a few taking 'sickies' tomorrow !!!

Now down to business - a couple of easy ones plus two 'challenges' this week and once again cliffyg was on the ball with two matches first off, with Chop Sticks and Dawn Raid, then Strix complete with plastered leg [!! ??] came in with Crown Court plus an extra point for Dawn Raid.

A long wait then until 12.39 when Elspeth with her thinking cap on picked up the final match and bonus points for Brass Nickel.

teacher1 was the best performed in the 'good guess' dept, collecting 3 points, followed by devadiva, wickedtongue, cpfcrosiel, ShazzaHewit, Magyar, Cleocima & gen2 all with 2 points.

A further 19 enries each picked up 1 point to add to their tally'

Congratualtions everyone, it was one of the quieter weeks but never mind, there's still one more weekend to go to make a real impression on the leader.

Just in case there are any gremlins loose in the works I'll post this and be back with the all-important Leader Board.

and following right along comes

The Leader Board

with the addition of another 4 points cliffyg takes an almost unassailable lead one 22 points

cpfcrosiel is at the fore-front of the following group with 9 points

next is teacher1 with 8 points

on 7 points we have lysander, miss meg, wickedtongue, Elspeth & Magyar

and on 6 points are Strix, london_lassy, Mrs E, Jean G, Mr O & chriss

and on 5 points we have grannydi, devadiva, Jools, Chiefpanda, crofter, fordward & jobjockey

And one quick apology to Mrs E for not acknowledging her two points in the "good guess' dept - sorry about that.

And that about wraps things up from here for this week, have a good week everyone, if anyone would like to swap places, you're more than welcome, I hope to be a shadow of my former self, this time next week - ha ha ha bye S

Hi folks,

Sorry not to have entered this week, but we were without electricity from Friday morning until last night due to the tempest here in S.W. France. I have never been in a hurricane but after this weekend I have no wish to experience one ! 100mph was quite enough for us thank you.

Anyway, no real harm done thank goodness. We were luckier than they were further south around Biarritz and Toulouse and of course Spain, which seems to have borne the brunt of it.

I'll be back next weekend though trying to get more than one right !!
Nothing for me again this week - I'm just pleased to be back again!
