Telegraph Clued Up - online puzzles
8 Answers
Is anyone else having problems accessing the Telegraph online puzzle site today? Frequently individual puzzles don't appear or are on incorrect grids but today I'm not even getting in.
It wouldn't take much to insert a few lines on the main Telegraph site if there are problems but this seems too much for them. I've emailed complaints many times but after a bland acknowledgement I hear nothing more.
This would be just acceptable on a free site but we pay for access to Clued Up.

So what went wrong? I cleared cookies and reloaded Firefox, result - success. Bl**dy computers, I've spent most of my working life with them and they never cease to amaze me.
Dave: this is something we're finding far too often. Not are only some clues badly constructed, some of the answers beggar belief. A couple of weeks ago the answer to a GK clue something like an informal walk was MOSEY. I ask you!
I think I'd better now shrink under a stone.

With regard to the return emails, they are produced automatically, and that is all I ever get as well.
I also use FireFox, and have no problems apart from printing the completed grid, which just doesn't work. It does, however, work in IE.
I don't actually print it, but create a pdf using a pseudo printer so that I can email it to my son, who works nights. He hasn't phoned me at 3 oclock in the morning yet, but I take no chances!!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Firefox's rendition of code is a lot stricter than IE's. Whether that's a good or bad thing is open to debate.
I only use IE as a last resort. A lot of web developers (including my local authority's) don't seem to be aware that there are many better alternatives to the excuse for a browser that comes preloaded with most PCs. Consequently many pages or features aren't properly rendered with Firefox.
If there's an alternative to Microsoft's offering, use it!

I'm forced to use IE if I want to enter interactively on Clued Up.The grid just doesn't come up in Firefox, though it's fine for printing the crosswords off. I do get fed up with the second class status of Firefox, when we all know what is really second class.
Likewise I get fed up with paying good money for Clued Up when they are so careless of those from whom their bread and butter comes.
Moan over. Happy crosswording, folks.

When I did the cryptic this morning, everything was OK.
Now I go back to do the others, and this is what I get from FireFox:
"Redirect Loop
Redirection limit for this URL exceeded. Unable to load the requested page. This may be caused by cookies that are blocked."
No problems in IE!! Perhaps Microsoft have taken over the website!!
