thanks johanna02, unfortunately the word ends with an 'r'
sorry seekeerz. I do know that SLUR is also a singing term, but check it out first. Good luck.
Hi seekeerz! I haven't been in touch for quite a while but I am still around. I hope all is well with you and you are coping with that dreadful heatwave.
I think slur is right but the wording of the question is not exactly accurate.

Cheers and warm regards

thanks johanna02 and Hi mohill, good to hear from you - yes, SLUR is correct but the clue is lousy [typical]

I had to admit defeat with this week's quiz and ring one of my friends for the answer. I've never heard of the term.

As for the heatwave - least said the better, it's ghastly, thank goodness we have cooling and can manage a decent night's sleep but in order to cope we are being routinely shut down for about 1/2 an hour at a time, to so say conserve power - have you ever heard anything so ridiculous in this day and age when there's insufficient power and water to supply the population without having to enforce restrictions !! I have no idea what our polititions are doing but it's nothing worthwhile, I'm certain.

Oh dear, I do sound cranky.

It's good to hear from you and I hope you're both keeping well, all the best ...seekeerz
