I was in the same position with all the 'y's and, of course, the Brewer hint was what solved it - but the quotation does appear (with its quaint spelling) on the Internet!
Could anyone help me with the wordplay in 33d? With the three letters I have, I can see two potential answers for spiteful, but neither of them fits with 'measure'
Thanks in anticipation.
Sorry - got there under my own steam. I was looking at the wrong animal (and at 'nasty') But I would never have known, without Chambers, that the right animal is also a unit of measurement!
Thanks anyway.
Thank you toalisi for the link, I had to resort to a visit to the library to get the quaint spelling of the quotation. My on-line Brewers didn't include it. It's not the first time that has happened, I'll have to invest 19.99 in a hard copy of Brewer, might even help with the current financial situation!
I'm back now to the disaster of last sundays EV! Hope you are making more progress than me Christiana.
Ciao
