I am very interested to know why people post questions which are so easily solved by googling. This is not a criticism but so often it is quicker and more satisfying to try and find out the answer yourself. I do use answer bank but only as a last resort.

I agree with you seagirl, it often takes less time to google the answer than to post the question on answerbank!!

I was thinking of posting something similar and as you say has been posted many times in the past. All the questions in the MOS Crossword today only need a simple search on Google. I think half the time people cannot be botthered.

Thats just what I mean Mctavish. I have just finished the MOS without having to post any questions. The answers are all so easy to find

Its not a question of knowing the answer, its knowing where to find it

But you don't know the answer until you have looked for it and then you have the satisfaction at having found the answer yourself.

As I usually do the crossword later in the day I Google first then trawl the Answer Bank for others earlier questions. I can normally finish the DT and ST GK crosswords without having to pose a question.

After all, it is called the "Answer Bank", not the "Please Google Before Bothering To Browse The Answer Bank". The site is a great resource and surely within the bounds of decency, people are free to use it whenever they choose, to save time, to learn about crosswords, to exchange thoughts and ideas and, if they want to, to take the lazy approach to solving clues. Frankly, being peeved about something like this is about number 3,417,208 on my list of things to worry about. Just enjoy it on your own terms.

Would we really want the answerbank to close down? I would miss seeing all your names, though I am rarely quick enough to get an answer in and participate. lol

I regard Answerbank as one of my friends and on days when I'm not working on a crossword I browse through the various queries and it's amazing what you can learn and a huge HURRAH to all those who contribute.
