around the world tug-of-war

strange question, i know. but say i went all round the world with a piece of endless string and then got enough people to do a tug of war from where I started. then, someone went exactly half way and cut the string in the middle, would the people doing the tug-of-war fall backwards and ending back to back with each other?? Its been bugging me!!

Well, if it went all the way round when the tug of war starts the two people at the ends would already have their backs to each other. So when someone cuts the string what will happen is as you describe.

There would be no tension in the rope at the point that it was cut, so nothing would happen.
