Capsilitis
1 Answers
I have what I suspect... and judging by what I have read... Capsilitis in the ball of my foot which was brought on by sudden trauma ( I kicked the bedside table throwing a tantrum!)
This happened in November. My foot swelled up and hurt when I walked and ran. 80% of the damage has gone but the remainding last little bit just wont go away! The pain is located at the side of the ball of the foot, in the joint groove where the top of the metatarsal head meets the bottom of the phalange (toe bone).
I am also a dedicated club runner and my injury of course is hindering my performance. It is ok running for around 6 miles but it starts to aggravate it thereafter.
Ive seen 2 physios, 1 podiatrist and my GP twice and none of them can give me a straight answer as to what it is, which is very frustrating. Theyve said its either capsilitis or ligament damage. Ive had it X-rayed but nothing showed up which rules out bone damage. Im due for an MRI scan later this month.
Anyway my question is does anybody know how long capsilitis can take to heal? Ive looked everywhere on the net but cant find an answer.
Ive applied the RICE method for treatment which relieves the symptoms but I just cant understand why its taking so long to heal.
Im very worried I will not be able to do any more marathons or compete at the same level again. Which will be very upsetting.
