If you are thinking of posting your quiz entry soon can I ask that you just send money for the quiz and not include money for a follow on as i'm making this the last Oddbods quiz online. I'd like to thank everyone who has supported us over the past 8-9 years and also say thank you for the many letters of support from people following my objections to answers being given. Yes I know before all you lot start adding comments its an answer site so you're perfectly entitled to get your answers this way but please remember i'm entitled to my opinion too.
My decision to stop doing quizzes will not affect the fundraising quiz site that we run that will still be kept going. Oddbods gives all its profit to good causes and charities, we give every penny from our shows to whatever we are raising money for and the money from our quizzes has helped us enormously to cover the costs of putting on these shows as we have to buy props, costumes etc and your help and support has been very much appreciated.
Those who have already sent money for a follow on will be refunded when we send the marked sheets back after the closing date.

I am really sorry to hear that there will not be any more quizzes as they are one of my favourites, but thank you for the enjoyment all the previous quizzes have given me and good luck for the future with your fund raising

A shame that another good quiz bites the dust

I can understand why you dont want to put in hours of work to see some people not trying at all but I for one will miss them

I was expecting this, of course, but it's still a pity that a few ABusers have driven another compiler to quit devising this sort of quiz.

I'm now putting my effort into a local quiz night - I can still put in an anagram round, and picture rounds, and devise questions that are riddled with clues, so the old cryptic skills do not just wither away. So, still supporting fund raising, but not having to deal with cheques for tiny amounts or coins lost in the post.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments and the support I do appreciate it and I know i'm not the only one who feels like I do but I dont feel I have a choice as even if you politely ask people not to ask for answers they still do and if you complain then you are accused of spoiling their enjoyment.
I've enjoyed setting the quizzes and i've enjoyed the challenge of doing quizzes but when something is no longer enjoyable its time to stop. Putting on 2-3 shows a year means i'm still doing my bit for charity and good causes one way or another. On behalf of everyone at Oddbods thank you for buying the quizzes and supporting us.

oddboddy - really sorry that you're calling it a day, but perfectly understandable - putting it all that effort only to see the answers given away by so called "do gooders".

It's a shame that the two sets of people (those asking for answers and those supplying them) can't see that they are ruining the enjoyment of so many and now more importantly, denying the charities precious revenue.

Well theres a lot of setters dont mind questions and answers on here so theres not going to be a lack of quizzes
but it would be nice if the ones like me that do mind could just state no questions to be asked and have that request respected but unfortunately its not to be, in fact that seems to have the opposite effect. If people respected setters requests it would in fact give those that want to trade answers quizzes they can do swapping as many answers as they want with no one complaining about it and those that prefer to do it themselves could have quizzes they can do without questions popping up and everyone would have enjoyment but nothings ever that simple is it. Hi oddboddy. I'll be very sorry if you give up.I have done your latest quiz..I admit that myself and a couple of friends got together (via the wonder of broadband) and solved a couple of the 'harder' (who knows what is hard) ones but we did not ask on here.
I have asked questions on here but usually very close to the closing date and usually one or two (not 5,6,or 20) and I have made some good friends through AB.
It'll be a shame if you give up .I think everyone appreciates your quiz web site.Re think...don't let them beat you

Sorry to hear you are "retiring" from the quiz setting business.
Have really enjoyed doing your quizzes, sent off the latest one today "Twos Company" Incomplete - a few answers missing, so not in the running for a prize.
Sympathize with your reasons, don't really see a solution to the problem, it has worsened in the last few months, but what is the answer ?

Trouble is if you share a site most ignore it.
I gave one particular person the site for universal anagrams so many times it became a joke and yet still now they ask for an anagram that that site could solve

I have also explained in great detail how easy it is to get song titles and artists for the initial type questions from everyhit but that too is ignored

They get cryptic answers and say thanks but rarely say how did you get that

Its these sort of things that can be irritating.

Surely you must see that some of the questions are so simple they didnt ought to be asked - an example is the scrabble question - easy to google the value of the letters but no lets ask on here

This used to be a site were we shared clues and answers to the more difficult questions and yes I agree that what is difficult to one person is easy to another but this is no longer the case.

How can they be obtaining any pleasure from a quiz if one person asks over half the questions to a particular quiz

I am not part of the dont ever ask brigade but can see their point but know that isnt going to happen as thats why I joined the site

All I would like to see is them not asked so soon and one person ask so many in the way they do 5 one day 5 the next etc etc

Less insults to people who dont share your opinion might be a good thing too - do not see what I have done or said that merits me the monkey title. I give out loads of answers on here and follow my own set rule of if I cant do 90% myselt then I wont try to finish it

I appreciate your comments and I do understand your point,
but this wasnt about whether people agree or not with me it was simply to say i'm giving up quizzing and this is why. You are entitled to your opinions but I dont happen to share them. I know the internet is a valuable source of research in fact I wish more would use it as such instead of just asking the answer. I wasnt arguing the fors and against of giving answers either I was just stating that I am giving up setting quizzes and I wont be entering many either as I dont enjoy it anymore. I am not entering into arguments on it and I had no wish to upset anyone but my opinion stands
I do not want to enter lucky dips which is what quizzes have become, I do not want to spend weeks compiling what I think is a good quiz and have someone start asking within 3 days of the first quiz being sent out as happened this time and furthermore as I set Oddbods quizzes I feel I should have the right to be able to say I dont want answers being given out, and have people respect that. What other setters do or dont do is not my business but I want the right to run my own quiz my way and as that isn't happening then i'm not prepared to set any more. I fund Oddbods myself I always have so it isnt about the money if it was then i'd carry on regardless. Its purely the fact quizzing has been hijacked by a new type of quizzer that sees doing a quiz as trading questions and answers to get a quiz done as quick as possible. Im sorry but I dont subscribe to that theory and judging from the amount of letters and emails I get a lot of others feel the same way as I do. I have no objections to people who feel they have to ask and advertise how clever they are if they enjoy it thats fine by me I just dont want my quiz going down this road and I just feel people should respect that view,i'm not asking people to agree with me, i'm not telling people what they should do i'm saying I dont like the way it is therefore i'm not
