MM Solns March Week [2]

Your mystery setter, Mr E Guest certainly went for a flutter this week, but avian rather than equine.
No doubt fearful of ruffling a few feathers, he kept well clear of the birds for his links.

I can now reveal that the links were:

Robin RELIANT
Dove TAIL
Duck WEED
Swan LAKE

Did you spot Rodney riding in a yellow three-wheeler?
Did it require a joint effort to join the queue to guess this one?
I hope nobody wee'd themselves with excitement playing this game.
And of course you picked up on the bally (ballet) great expanse of water. Well you did - didn't you?

Despite Mr E leaving a veritable paper-trail of hints and suggestions, nobody spotted all four pairings and none managed three either.

The first scorer was fordward, who as player number two at 9:01, grabbed the first 2 points for SWAN LAKE. Within two minutes, and thus qualifying for bonus points as well, we had Aquagility, Jools, Dinkypuzzled, evsajo, beejay & jan1956. Later, six players picked up a single point for the same link.

Presumably miss meg is no fool when it comes to betting on the horses. Also clocking in at 9:01, she found ROBIN RELIANT for 2 points. Although 6 further players also chose this pairing, none were quick enough to qualify for bonus points.

Player number 5, still at 9:01 was Jools who, as well as the match already reported, was first to spot DOVE TAIL for another 2 ponts (4 in total). Dinkypuzzled & beejay picked up bonuses on this, giving them a total of 4 points as well. Once again, six later players later picked up a single point for this.

So what about the last pairing? I can reveal that only a single player chose DUCK WEED. It was player number 17 at 9:04 and that was the guardian of our sister game - seekeerz.

So for being unique in spotting that elusive last link, I announce:

According to the prescribed method, I duly dropped my abacus down the stairs and the beads have ended up in the following positions:

Right on her heels is a pack of Aquagility, beejay1124, Dinkypuzzled, Jools & miss meg, all on 4 points.

Further back are ten people on 2 points and 14 on 1 point.

There are another two weeks to go in this round so it is still wide open for anyone to take the honours.
