Ebay for a dummy silver surfer

Seems that most ebay questions have been posted under this category, so ............
Ok, millions of people use Ebay and l don't, so will have to make a start!
Couple of REALLY STUPID questions before l start wading through all of their tutorials though.
1) Living in France but not too up on the lingo here. Can l join Ebay uk (l have uk credit cards for seller registration)
2) At a quick glance about selling, it says to include all costs (ie postage) so the buyer knows the full price. Depending upon what l sell and to whom, wherever located, how do l know what the cost of postage will be?
3) Selling a bulk standard item l can understand, but let's assume a hypothetical item of, say, a screwdriver.
It can have a rosewood handle and the shaft could be gold plated.
There are no other item like this available anywhere so what do you charge? It could be worth anything!
Don't want to sell it for next to nothing, but don't want to price it so that no one bids.

2. You need to find out what the postage costs are for yourself. If your items are located in France then I would expect that the French post office site would tell you what you need to know.
3. Items are only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for them. You need to set the "starting price" for an auction the minimum amount you are prepared to sell the item for. If you have a lower starting price you risk have to sell at that lower price.
