Not sure if this is right place to ask?

anyone know where this might be?

Looking south through the trees on this macabre vantage point, I have a view of a town where walkers north of the border are assured a hearty welcome, and the local toffee is famed for its sour aftertaste. The town's eponymous well lies across a valley to the northeast, and another valley westwards holds a south-running river that shares its name with the fishing town that meets the sea.

just a guess....Devil's Beef Tub north of Moffat (where the toffee's made). The River Annan runs south and meets the sea at Annan. I can't confirm the well as my map's hopeless:o)
second thoughts....it could be Gallow Hill.....
