climbing roses

hi all,i am about to cover my garden walls with climbing roses and would like some advice off the more experienced of us.i am looking for roses that will flower more or less all summer the scent and colour are really not that important compared with the flowering season.i have bought a few allready these are pink perpetue/zephirine drouhine/schoolgirl and pauls scarlet i ahve also managed to get a climbing blue moon but i am noy holding my breath on that one,any advice on length of season and vigour etc. on these ones would be appreciated also.thanks brynnedd

Blue Moon is not vigorous, and tends to stems which are too frail to support the heads. Having said that, it smells delicious, is a fabulous colour and one of my absolute favourite roses. You may need to give it extra coddling and take care that it is not swamped by your more vigorous varieties. IMHO its worth it

There are some fairly new roses that are very intersting for your application.  I don't know if they are available in the UK, but you might ask about:

Falstaff English Rose, Christopher Marlowe and of course, Abraham Darby.

Keep in mind, they will all require extensive sunlight and the first two weeks after planting be sure to keep them well watered, not soupy yet very moist. Additionally, no rose is a true vine... it will require staking and support on the wall.  Good luck, you'll enjoy the work you put into it...
