Good Morning, this is Mr E back once again. Sadly, this will be my last blog for you all :-(
Some of you claimed to have found helpful clues within my blogs - Whatever gave you that idea? However, I am under instructions to wean you off those before returning to a more regular game next month.
Nothing much has happened over the last few days, unlike last week when we stood on the great white cliffs of the Sussex coast looking out to sea. Even the weather has changed and instead of basking in spring sunshine, we have had to endure strong winds and showers.
On Monday evening, Fred called round with 'Snoopy' his dog - no, not 'Dino' (lol), and it's nothing like that poor beagle in the cartoons either. He is actually a Jack Russell. The purpose of Fred's visit was to see if I could lend a hand planting an alder tree for his eldely father, Jimmy.
So it was that we turned up at Jimmy's on Tuesday morning. I took one look at the tree and thought "Alder? Hey, it looks more like a poplar to me". Before we started, Fred's mother made us a pot of tea. During the small-talk, she told us that she was extremely pleased with a bargain she had found on evsajo's stall at last weekend's car boot sale. 30 for a gaudy piece of Majolica. I wanted to say "What a load of pap! Worth next to nothing I'm sure", but instead I politely said "I'm sure one of the guys at the Antiques Fayre will give you twice that for it".
Out in the garden, we readily found a stake to anchor the tree but needed a sledge-hammer to drive it in. "There's one in the garage." said Jimmy, but when we located it, we discovered that the hammer head was loose and had to be secured first. Nothing ever seems to go right first time, particularly so that day.
