MM Links Solutions April 2009 [Week 2]

This second week in the reign of Baron Brian saw yet another perfect launch leading to some healthy scoring. This week there was an obvious choice of theme with Easter and link words:

Cross WORD
Egg HEAD
TORTOISE Shell
Parade GROUND

There were a few clues with anagrams, eggs and the Baron's interests in wildlife ~ those alert enough to spot these were amply rewarded!

Many of the first half-dozen entrants scored TWO POINTS for reporting for duty on the PARADE GROUND including Dinkypuzzled, gen2, Christiana, Grenmus & Aquagility. However it was jan1956 who really caught the scorer�s eye with both CROSS WORD and EGG HEAD for well-deserved FOUR POINTS ~ but there was better to come in the form of cliffyg. He was able to match jan1956�s double hit within time, but threw in PARADE GROUND for good measure to score FIVE POINTS and so qualifies for the coveted title of HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK!

Around this time, there were entries from newcomers miranda�s mum & dad who are most welcome (but sadly each scoring ZERO points). �The way to do it� was demonstrated by double hits from grannydi, x-ray & seekeerz who are beginning to show consistency week on week.

After 20 entrants, roslyn251254 fluttered in with TORTOISE SHELL (and Parade Ground) for THREE POINTS ~ and was matched by the mighty teacher1 with three single hits. Thereafter the game rumbled on with a series of single hits to end once more with a bucketful of points going to �the lucky and the strong�.

I cannot recall such a high-scoring start for any month ~ and don�t forget that there are five weekends spanning April, so here�s still much to play for. I cannot wait to see what Baron Brain has in store for us next week. Until then, this is crofter signing off for another week.

Looks like gen2 and myself have just about held onto the lead, but it is still a very close thing.
