If it's any help, my dictionary states that it comes from the old English Northern dialect 'mowlde'. Or could be of Norwegian origin 'mugla'. From this, I've come up wih mushroom. (mu from mugla; & mould is actually a fungus). Make any sense? No, I didn't think so!!!
