US Mercenaries in the Falklands War

Is it true that US Mercenaries served with the Argentine forces during the Falklands War? This allegation has appeared in the memoirs of one soldier but I don't know of it being mentioned anywhere else.

The rumour has been around for years but the Ministry of Defence has always denied it:
