I recently received a query as to why I had not used this site for a while. My last question brought such a sharp rebuke I was too scared to ask again. On behalf of many older users I would make this plea: if you do not wish to help us then just ignore our requests, no one is forcing you to answer but remember you too may be old & slow one day.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.esmeralda- it matters not if you are young or old fast or slow, what really matters is most people are okay in this life + take no notice of the rest please. Do not be scared to ask as there will be many whom are very willing/happy to help. Those who want to rebuke are the ones who clearly need pschiatric help or a big kick up the jacksie- so please keep asking away. Simon at your service x
Esmerelda - most ABers are very polite and only too willing to help others, no matter what their question. There are others who are less polite but they really aren't worth worrying your head about. I don't know what your "sharp rebuke" was but if it related to a crossword clue then it could be that you did not give enough information, such as the number of letters in the answer and any letters you might have placed. This can be frustrating for people who want to help but can't . Remember also that short messages are open to interpretation and offence might be taken where none is meant. Enjoy the site and don't worry about the ones who sometimes try and spoil others' enjoyment - they are far outnumbered by nice ones. :-)
Hi esmeralda,
I am probably older than most, but enjoy this site for the friendship and kindness shewn by most on here.
I agree with all that the others have said, and yes - ask all you like, I will be glady willing to help if I can.......after all that

Totally agree with the others. You are both very welcome. And I agree with x-ray. Despite a gradual increase in unpleasant comments since I joined, I still love this section of the Answerbank. Most people are really helpful and I've made some good friends on here.
After a while I also decided I wouldn't be tempted to join in when the occasional dispute arises, and to ignore it if someone objects to a question I've asked.

In complete agreement with everyone here. I'm very happy to help anyone, when I can. (And am very grateful for all the help I have had.)
This is a question and answer site so if the snipers don't want to know the answers they shouldn't look. If their objection is that asking on here is somehow "cheating" first I would ask what they are doing on here at all...surely they would not be cheating, would they ? and second, what is the difference between asking on here and asking friends and family ?
Try to ignore these people. They are just plain rude.
