Name editing

I have recently bought a Toshiba HDD and DVD recorder (model RD-88DTKB)
I am managing quite well with it except for being able to edit the names of titles.
I record quite a few films and it would be useful to be able to name them. I have tried to follow the instructions in the users manuel but without success,
The instructions say that after selecting 'Edit Title Name' a window for entering the title name will appear. It doesn't, so it seems I am doing something wrong.
I wonder if anyone is familiar with this machine and could tell me what I am doing wrong.
