I think it's anosmia...a + defective nose = nos(e) + anagram of 'I am'

Many thanks Janbee and JMR27. I knew the definition but was puzzled by what I thought was the anagram ' nose I am'. Not good for this 'elderly brain' all this thinking especially first thing in the morning.Still a little doubtful as to what to put as I googled Anosmea and it said incorrect spelling for Anosmia.Thanks again.

my chambers dictionary states that it's anosmia. Good luck with your competition. Hope it's better weather where you are. It's pouring rain here in Sussex.

Thanks again. Will go with the 'ia' at the end. Not raining here in Southend at the moment but forecast not looking too promising.Husband has just said doesn't think he'll get the weeding done today. Why ?? A little bit of rain wont hurt him. What a caring wife I am.
